When I think of modern style icons that embody classic Hollywood glamour, there’s no one better than Dita Von Teese. Not only does she top every best dressed list, but she has literally created an entire world for herself that millions of ladies now want to live in. The lesson: If you don’t like the time you were born into, create and live in one you love. I have been lucky enough to get a look inside that world and let me tell you, it’s lush.
I’ve been a fan of Dita’s style for many years, her work for even longer. To say her style is flawless is an understatement. From perfume to sweaters, from jewelry to housewares, each brand she launches is uniquely Dita and marries modern needs with vintage flair. I feel honored to have been able to collaborate with her on these teacups. Not only is Dita as big a tea drinker as I am, but she also has a wicked sense of humor and excellent eye for detail. It was truly my favorite project to date.
Inspired by her recent Las Vegas residency, Dita Las Vegas, these teacups bear signature Dita details. When I saw the show I was awed not just by the incredible work that went into the creation of the show, the body of Dita’s work both past and present, but also by the audience itself. I’ve never seen such a well dressed audience. Everyone, EVERY SINGLE AUDIENCE MEMBER, was dressed to the nines, most in vintage dresses, hair, and makeup. These women (and quite a few men) were dressed up for Dita, to inhabit that timeless and magical space she has created.
I’m not going to lie, since spending time with Dita I’ve definitely upped my beauty game.
